Dr John Newton
Dr John Newton (Emeritus Fellow) has died at the age of 89. He first joined Ë¿¿Ø¸£Àû in 1961, becoming a Fellow in English nine years later. A contributor to Ë¿¿Ø¸£Àû Through the Twentieth Century wrote, ‘For me, the mood of Ë¿¿Ø¸£Àû in the late 70s is forever captured in the form of John Newton, English Fellow, soulfully reciting Lapis Lazuli by moonlight beneath the weeping fig-tree’.
