Ë¿¿Ø¸£Àû Fellows promoted at the University of Cambridge
Congratulations to the five Ë¿¿Ø¸£Àû fellows who have been promoted by the University of Cambridge with effect from 1 October 2026.
Rebecca Lawson, Oliver Shorttle and Ioannis Lestas are promoted to a Grade 12 professorship, Matt Kenzie to a Grade 11 professorship and Isabelle Higgins to a Senior Teaching Associate, Grade 8.
Rebecca Lawson is Professor of Neuroscience and Computational Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge and a Senior Affiliated Scientist at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit. Her research uses computational models, pharmacology and brain imaging to understand how humans learn to build adaptive expectations about the world around us, other people and ourselves
Oliver Shorttle is a Professor at the Institute of Astronomy and Department of Earth Sciences at the University, he studies the chemical and dynamic processes occurring in planetary interiors and crusts through a combination of fieldwork, geochemical analysis and modelling.
Ioannis Lestas is a Professor at the Department of Engineering. His research is associated with the analysis, modeling and control of large scale networks, using advanced methodologies in control theory and optimization, with a focus on the control of power systems and smart grids.
Matt Kenzie is an experimental particle physicist and part of the Cavendish High Energy Physics Group. Working with data from CERN's Large Hadron Collider, he studies the behavior of short-lived subatomic particles to see how matter and antimatter differ.
Isabelle Higgins teaches Media, Culture and Sociological Theory in the Department of Sociology. Her research examines how people integrate and make sense of emerging technologies in daily life. Drawing on social theory, she critically analyses how these real-world settings reflect, reproduce, or challenge social inequalities.
